Redington Shores History

Redington Shores incorporated in 1955, according to the town website. Its setting between the Gulf and Boca Ciega Bay shaped the mix of beach cottages, waterfront houses and condominium buildings found here today.

The Redington Long Pier became a recognizable landmark after it opened in 1962. At the time, it extended 1,200 feet into the Gulf and drew generations of anglers and visitors. However, deterioration and storm damage led to its closure, and the pier was demolished in 2020. Therefore, the photo above is historical; the pier is no longer a visitor attraction.

Redington Shores Parks and Beach Access

For a beach day, Redington Shores Beach Access at 18200 Gulf Boulevard provides a starting point, with paid parking, restrooms and beach showers. In addition, nearby Constitution Park at 18214 Gulf Boulevard has a playground, picnic facilities and recreation courts.

On the bay side, Nature Park, formerly Del Bello Park, sits at 17925 Gulf Boulevard. The town lists a fishing dock, kayak launch, benches and small pavilions here.
