Wimauma Homes for Sale

Wimauma Real Estate & Local Area Guide

Wimauma History & Acreage Properties

Today, Wimauma homes for sale reflect two sides of southern Hillsborough County: its longstanding rural landscape and its more recent planned neighborhoods. Wimauma is an unincorporated community southeast of Tampa, with a mailing area that uses ZIP code 33598. Postal boundaries, census boundaries and subdivision names do not always describe the same area.

Captain C. H. Davis founded Wimauma in 1902. In fact, its name combines letters from his daughters’ names, Will, Maude and Mary. In addition, a railroad connection helped establish the settlement, linking this part of the county with communities farther south. That early transportation history helps explain why the original town center and surrounding rural roads feel different from the newer subdivisions.

Meanwhile, acreage remains an important part of Wimauma’s housing identity. For example, larger parcels can include detached homes, outbuildings and land with agricultural uses, while planned communities generally organize homes around shared recreation and maintained common areas. Lot size alone does not establish permission for horses, a workshop or a business; those uses depend on the particular property.

Valencia Lakes: An Established Wimauma Community

Valencia Lakes is a gated, 55+ community developed by GL Homes. It offers detached single-family homes and attached villas. Construction began in 2005 and continued through 2019, so it belongs in the established-community part of this guide. Consequently, today’s search should focus on available resale homes rather than assuming the original builder is still selling new phases.

Within the neighborhood, the clubhouse is a major part of the neighborhood. For instance, recreation includes pools, a fitness center, sports courts and spaces for hobbies and social gatherings. In addition, the association’s public website lists a clubhouse café, spa, garden and RV-related amenities. Meanwhile, its calendar includes activities such as art classes and community events, alongside association meetings.

The Valencia Lakes Property Owners Association website is the direct resource for community contacts and announcements. Some detailed amenity pages and documents require resident access. When comparing a villa with a detached home, check the current maintenance responsibilities, dues, age-occupancy provisions and guest rules for that specific property.

Wimauma Homes for Sale in Newer Communities

Valencia del Sol

Valencia del Sol is another gated, 55+ community by GL Homes, with development beginning in 2017. Its housing includes villas and detached homes. A clubhouse, fitness facilities, pool, restaurant and courts for tennis, pickleball and bocce are among its recreation features. However, it is a separate community from Valencia Lakes, with its own homes and association arrangements. Therefore, compare current listings and confirm any remaining builder inventory directly; an older advertisement calling a community “new” does not establish today’s availability.

Southshore Bay

Southshore Bay brings a different recreation concept to Wimauma: a five-acre lagoon with a beach setting and water activities. In addition, the developer lists walking and biking trails, a dog park and high-speed internet infrastructure. Meanwhile, a dedicated 55+ section is part of the larger development, so age restrictions should be checked by section rather than applied to the whole community.

The developer’s current community page identifies D.R. Horton and Lennar among its builders and provides direct links to their offerings. For that reason, use those official links to check active releases and model information. Lagoon admission, resident benefits and activity charges can differ; review the terms attached to the home and the current visitor arrangements.

Sereno

Sereno is another planned community to include in a Wimauma search. Metro describes a gated setting with a pool and cabanas, trails, outdoor gathering areas, a dog park and sports courts. In addition, it identifies D.R. Horton as the builder. However, its page currently labels additional new homes as coming soon, so confirm release dates and available inventory before planning a model-home visit.

Across these communities, compare the actual home, completed amenities and location within the development. Wimauma real estate includes both resales and new construction; neither label by itself explains the full ownership cost or the surrounding setting.

Living in Wimauma: Local Life & Outdoor Recreation

For everyday travel, State Road 674 connects Wimauma with Sun City Center and the I-75 corridor. US 301 provides another important north-south connection. Together, these roads shape everyday trips to shops, restaurants and services. The original town area and rural roads offer a different setting from the commercial corridors serving newer neighborhoods.

For outdoor time, the Little Manatee River area adds a natural counterpoint to community pools and clubhouses. Regional outings can also take you toward the waterfront in Ruskin and Apollo Beach. Wimauma itself is inland; a lagoon amenity is not the same as a Gulf beach or boating access from your property.

Within Valencia Lakes, clubhouse activities and the café are part of the resident amenity setting. Beyond the gates, the nearby Sun City Center area provides additional dining and service options. Explore the roads you would actually use for groceries, appointments and recreation when comparing different parts of Wimauma.
